Internationally recognized multi-media artist Natasha Beste is best known for her innovative audio and video experimentation, utilizing narrative and documentary styles to create complex, compelling mixed media video art and installations. As co-owner of media production company Gold House Media, her music videos have been featured on MTV Networks and her documentary work has helped multiple organizations win special award funding for their media arts programs. She has been a video production and animation educator for over 10 years, serving both youth and adults. Natasha also produces and performs original music with Odd Hours, a Detroit-based electro-pop rock band.
Natasha will be running the Gold House Media Animation Station at Detroit Comix Party, a collaborative installation where the public can create their own stop-motion videos in a massive “exquisite corpse” style temporal collage.
I utilize image and sound as puzzle pieces, combining and manipulating, creating metaphoric images, reflective language and symbolic environments. I consider myself a video artist. I create single-channel videos and mixed media installations that often include hand-drawn animated video. My goal is for audiences to experience something that is emotionally charging and provocative, evoking ideas related to themselves.
